Windows 10 Mobile Build 10586.71 Spotted on Microsoft's Servers

Microsoft today published a list of Intel Skylake-based PCs that can run Windows 7/8.1 operating systems but will have truncated Windows product lifecycle support. Last month, a less than stellar update landed to the flagship smartphones carrying Windows 10[1] Mobile. If everything goes fine the company will tentatively launch it as cumulative update sometime in the mid February.

Users looking forward to Windows 10 Mobile are going to have to wait a little longer.

The update is likely to be part of the Threshold 2 stream, so we don't expect any significant changes to be implemented, as they will mostly be part of the Redstone builds that will soon arrive[2] for Windows Insiders.

The Windows developer will deliver the software improvements when the time is right and assures its partners that quality assurance is the reason behind its decision. It is learnt that the Windows 10 OS for the handsets might have cropped up a few issues, which are yet to be resolved by Microsoft before the release.

Moreover, the Upgrade Advisor app helps users clean up enough storage space on their devices to make room for the new Windows 10 Mobile. Once they finish installing Windows 10 Mobile on their device, users can restore the files that they saved into OneDrive.

So far, the year has only seen various rumors about the Microsoft Surface Phone and the Lumia 650, however, recently an official video from the company revealed the existence of an entirely new device, the Lumia Phone X. As the existence of the device was picked up by the media, many were quick to note that it was first time that any such smartphone has featured in rumors. Also a tip suggested that the Windows 10 Mobile update would start rolling out on January 12. The perk that Windows phone users might get out of this delay is that the OS will come with the latest service update and would be less buggy. Meanwhile, the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book owners are experiencing their own frustration that Microsoft has not yet publicly addressed.
