Windows 10 Mobile update for older Microsoft Lumia handsets delayed despite Vodafone Australia assertion
Update: SlashGear claims that Windows 10 Mobile update for older Microsoft Lumia handsets delayed despite Vodafone Australia assertion
Vodafone Australia users are going to be among the first ones to get Microsoft's Windows 10 Mobile update on their Lumia handsets. Without doubt this is a great news that not just Microsoft handset users are waiting for in Australia, but across the world.
For the last more than one month Windows smartphone owners in almost every part of the world are feeling let down as the Redmond tech giant, Microsoft, despite repeated assurances hasn't released the Windows 10 Mobile update for older versions.
The new Mobile OS update comes with substantial improvements that will make Microsoft handsets all the more useful.
There are major differences between previous Windows Mobile versions and the latest OS update. The most important aspect is the fact that while the versions running on your handset will be optimised for a smaller screen it's still just considered Windows 10. This means that apps and features will look almost similar on your phone to on your desktop. You get the full versions of Office, Word and PowerPoint and they will look and operate much the same as the desktop versions.
In the meantime latest reports suggest that Vodafone Australia has confirmed that it has completed testing of Windows 10 Mobile for its Windows Phone handsets, and that the company is actually in the final stages of preparation before the update begins it's official rollout (via WMPowerUser). Nonetheless the telecom operator says that it is awaiting the schedule. The company has said that Microsoft Lumia 640, 640 XL, 735 and 930 from Vodafone will be receiving Windows 10 Mobile.
